The Ventas French Door Locking System was manufactured specifically for the UK Joinery Industry to create a solution to the many problems encountered when fitting French/Double Door systems. Tapered linear bolts are used instead of hooks as hooks can cause catching problems when doors shrink and grind against the back of the keep which transfers wear to the gearbox.  This can lead to lock failures and hooks not being engaged into the slave lock, which can require remedial works and additional costs.
French timber doors often vary in height, thus the Ventas lock system was created to accommodate both very short doors and very tall doors (beyond the industry standard of 2.1 m) ie. it has a low top deadlock. For taller doors, there is an extra locking point withing the extension which allows you to reach any height door with the benefit of having an extra locking point to help with compression and security of both stiles, which minimises the risk of the door wanting to twist and come away from the rebate.
